iRail European Rail Timetables App Reviews

This app was immensely helpful on my backpacking trip through Europe. With my Eurail and Britrail pass, and this app, I spent a month in the UK and then hit 11 countries in 21 days. I planned everything through this app and am incredibly grateful to its creator.

О чем может быть речь, если расписания очевидно неверные? Paris -> Bourg Saint Maurice, 26.12.2009, 13:00 -- ни одного совпадения с официальным сайтом voyages-sncf -- и поезда не те, и идут не тогда. Не рекомедовал бы пользовать эту шнягу для чего-либо важного. This one fails reaility check miserably -- namely, train list for route from Paris to Bourg Saint Maurice for 26.12.2009 having rather distant connection to reality. Having false info is way worse than no info at all. Other pecularities include map of route with straight line connecting destination points (maybe flying trains?), inability to access inet with proxy (why connect to port 80 on 81.200.194.38 directly?) etc, but it does not matter much as long as main functionality is so borked.

Good, but still some inaccurate information: Milano Centrale is nowhere near the destination shown on map, and services between Italy and Germany are missing.

Fairly useless. Cannot find international connections and the connections it finds within a country are incomplete.

This app is excellent! I am heading to Europe in May and it has helped with my eurail planning! To the previos reviewer and others.. You need to use the proper name for each city you are looking up (I.e. Venezia not Venice). Also, if you search for a route at 9am that is all it shows you so if you want to see earlier or later times you need to change your search criteria. There are many train stations in certain cities so make sure you are searching for the right one. If you do not know the full name just put in a partial spelling and the program will give you some options. Anyways, love this app!

I live in rual Bavaria (Deutchland) and this app lists all of my connections to anywhere I want to go...including arrival departure and connection gates and times. A must for Euro rail travel!

Works really nice, only downfall is navigating the map. Has helped a lot on vacation planning. Thanks!

This is a great application. I just returned from a journey around Europe where we used the train daily. The schedules are accurate and VERY helpful. I highly recommend this application if you plan to use the train in Europe.

This was a very useful application when I was traveling Italy in May 2009. Using my iPod touch, it allowed me to easily check schedules whenever I had access to an open wireless network. It would give me the available times as well as the expected cost, so it really saved me from having to spend time at an Internet cafe or compete for computer time in the hostel. I was fortunate to get the app early when it was free, but with any decent amount of traveling, the time you save will be realized very quickly. The schedules it provided were exactly the same as I found at the train station kiosks.

Using this app and my EurRail pass I was able to get around europe without a problem. Even when trains crossed borders and carriers, iRails slick interface and 100% accurate scheduling optimized my schedule far faster than I could have with just time tables. Kudos to John, this app is worth 10x what I paid!

Just got back from Italy. This app prove to be accurate and help us plan our trip faster.

I was really happy to see this app as I go to Europe often. Unfortunatly the app turn out to be very confusing and freezes often. Very disapointed

This application is beyond useless without a wireless connection, which can happen quite often when traveling through Europe. You cant even navigate through previously viewed train schedules without a connection. A majority of the important information is simple text, theres no reason that all of it cant be stored locally for offline use.

I use it for planning before I go to Europe. It would be nice to be able to use it off line. I turn off my 3G there and a free wi-fi connection isnt always available. The freezing up can be a pain also. Other than that, its a great travel tool.

What is this crap about being locked out for 24 hours?! To protect data sources? I dont use this app on a daily basis, and now that I need it I have to wait 24 hours! Total BS.

Not bad. It could be more user friendly though. Its kinda confusing at first.
