iRail is a route planner for train journeys for your iPhone. Enter the departure and destination stations and iRail will show the times of the next few train services to take you to your destination anywhere in the UK and Europe.

Clicking on one of these services will show you the individual journeys and supplements which make up the trip, the next level of detail being a list of all stops the trip will make. Any of this information can be emailed to a friend at the tap of a button.

iRail also shows a map of the journeys route. An editable history of all previous stations entered saves typing and train information can be displayed in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Danish, Polish or Turkish.

Getting around Europe or just trying to get home iRail makes the journey easy.

Please note: iRail displays only timetabled departures in the UK not Realtime information so it will not show delays or engineering works. Also, remember to use the local language station name in Europe. For example, the Italian name for Venice is "Venezia"!

Really good! by Base1911
This is the first app I have felt the need to write a review about. This app works perfectly, never crashes, gives accurate times and loads quickly. If you are considering this app just go ahead and get it! You wont regret it!

Pros and cons of iRail European Rail Timetables app for iPhone and iPad

iRail European Rail Timetables app good for

This app was immensely helpful on my backpacking trip through Europe. With my Eurail and Britrail pass, and this app, I spent a month in the UK and then hit 11 countries in 21 days. I planned everything through this app and am incredibly grateful to its creator.
This app is excellent! I am heading to Europe in May and it has helped with my eurail planning! To the previos reviewer and others.. You need to use the proper name for each city you are looking up (I.e. Venezia not Venice). Also, if you search for a route at 9am that is all it shows you so if you want to see earlier or later times you need to change your search criteria. There are many train stations in certain cities so make sure you are searching for the right one. If you do not know the full name just put in a partial spelling and the program will give you some options. Anyways, love this app!
I live in rual Bavaria (Deutchland) and this app lists all of my connections to anywhere I want to go...including arrival departure and connection gates and times. A must for Euro rail travel!
Works really nice, only downfall is navigating the map. Has helped a lot on vacation planning. Thanks!
great app-better information even than ive found on many websites.
This is a really useful app - just what Ive been looking for!

Some bad moments

This one fails reaility check miserably -- namely, train list for route from Paris to Bourg Saint Maurice for 26.12.2009 having rather distant connection to reality. Having false info is way worse than no info at all. Other pecularities include map of route with straight line connecting destination points (maybe flying trains?), inability to access inet with proxy (why connect to port 80 on 81.200.194.38 directly?) etc, but it does not matter much as long as main functionality is so borked.
Fairly useless. Cannot find international connections and the connections it finds within a country are incomplete.
I was really happy to see this app as I go to Europe often. Unfortunatly the app turn out to be very confusing and freezes often. Very disapointed
This application is beyond useless without a wireless connection, which can happen quite often when traveling through Europe. You cant even navigate through previously viewed train schedules without a connection. A majority of the important information is simple text, theres no reason that all of it cant be stored locally for offline use.
What is this crap about being locked out for 24 hours?! To protect data sources? I dont use this app on a daily basis, and now that I need it I have to wait 24 hours! Total BS.
This has great potential but falls VERY short by the fact that I cant use this to preplan my trip. I dont care if I have to use wifi to use the search and maps. BUT I do care that once I find the route details I cant save it to the app somewhere. There is Email but if I wanted 2 places to keep track of routes I would just choose not to use this.
